Return of the Kitten Heel
11 years ago by
Et vous ? Les kitten heels, vous aimez ou pas ?
Oh no. these can look cute sometimes but they make feet look huge. Mod heel is only small heel I wear.
They are 100% anti-sexy, except on supermodels who are 6″ tall anyways… I wouldn’t wear them if I wasn’t 6″ tall myself! It can look chic, but I think it’s for women who are a certain age…

this is one trend i don’t really understand: all the trouble of wobbling on a heel with none of the advantages…:)

I’m not a huge fan of the kitten heel shape but the one in the photo is lovely!

I absolutely love the kitten heel. I can wear them all day long without feeling as tired as when i wear high heels. The kitten heel is definitely sexy and very versatile, I love them with jeans or a nice pair of black trousers a la Emmanuel Alt and during the summer with a cute short skirt. mxx
hate. hate. hate. hate. hate. gag. Partially because I don’t see the point and partially because in the past when I’ve tried them I trip all over myself. It’s like my brain can’t grasp the idea of heels that hardly lift you up, and I always take a tumble. Choose a side!!

Im going to have to sit this trend out, I look like a stump when I wear kitten heels. It could be I’m not wearing them right . .
Honestly, I am not a huge fan of the kitten heel. In my opinion they’re not very flattering. For me it’s either flats or a high heel. But to each their own, I guess.
http://lavie-amonavis.blogspot.com

Am so happy they are back :D :D I do a lot of walking so don’t really like heels, but these would be a perfect upgrade from flats!
Love, love, love, love the kitten heel. So chic! So ladylike!
Just had a debate with my girlfriends on this. I kept saying I wanted a small heel, and they kept calling it a « kitten heel, » which gives me middle school flashback nightmares. I like the low heel, but as a pump (I am totally loving classic pumps with cuffed jeans and a boyfriend sweater) or cone heel.
I’m not a big fan of kitten heels because I am an ‘all or nothing’ girl. Either 4″+ or flat (although the Chloe Susanna boots are an exception). Possibly the real reason why I don’t like them is they are unflattering for my legs, and most of all, because the little heel seemed to wear out so quickly, and I’d have to replace them ALL the time! Wonder if that was just me…

I made a mistake clicking a Like. Truth is, I Hate them with all my heart, not because of me, because of them!!!
I love kitten heels, I think they are easier to walk in than stilettos.
totally respect these shots. the style isn’t exactly up my alley, but i just love the tiny heels. so graphic and bold
http://www.vasilievablog.com
Kitten heels only look nice on very thin legs (and a lithe frame) – Audrey Hepburn style.
Otherwise, they will make your legs look stumpy. Then there is the question of the heel itself that needs to be repaired on a regular basis.
I have exactly one pair of shoes with a kitten heel (out of something like 500) and I keep it because I think it is beautiful. Haven’t worn it in 10 years…

I think if you can’t decide between them, you won’t necessarily get the best of the both worlds with kitten heels. It’d be difficult if the height isn’t perfect.

I like the kitten heels it’s very chic you just have to be careful not to look like a old lady by wearing the right pants or dress and right accessories!
http://www.lebazhaar.com
Love! Kitten Heels! They work great for me. a.) i am not very good at walking in something much higher, (although I dream of walking into a room with high heels and no one laughing1) and b sadly my body gets all out of wack after a short time and then I cannot run!
I loveeee them! Being slightly more vertically blessed in the asian society, I’ve been loving them since 16! A demure option that’s both sensible and fashionably chic ;)

Love, LOVE kitten heels. The look sexy, and put together, with the ease of flats. Like wearing heels without the need to change into more comfortable shoes.
Love ’em!!! You can wear them all day and not be crippled and nothing looks more elegant under a tea-length skirt….please tell me that they are also coming back!
Grossssss!!!!!!!! So disgusting. Gag.
I adore the kitten heel. I wear a kitten heel nearly every day in one or another shade. They make me feel subtly sexy, more refined than an outrageous heel. More mysterious. I think of 1960’s Italian movie stars when I think of the kitten heel. I get what Garance is saying though. I’m lucky that I have tiny feet. But then I love really high heels but if I try and wear high heels like Garance does, I look completely ridiculous. The proportion is all wrong. I look like I’m trying way too hard.
I am not a fan. It is either flat or high heel for me!
Mais non.
The only thing I hate about kitten heels is their name.
I am a big fan, with a couple of caveats.
One is that I have very small feet (36 Eu) and very small ankles, so they don’t overwhelm my feet the way more « serious » heels can. I think the tiny little ballet dancer feet help keep them more in proportion, also.
Two– Repetto Gisele. Only. The.perfect.kitten.heel. They make the roundness of your heel and the thinness of your Achilles so sexy and glorious! Completely accentuates the bones of the ankle.
I love kitten heels! They’re the perfect place between a flat and high heels. If they really are back in fashion I will buy as deeply as I can afford.
To me you either go high or flat. Kitten heels always make me think of little girls’ shoes, you know the ones designed to make them feel as grown as their mums. Can’t help it. ^^
I actually love them a lot. But that may have to do with my on-going obsession with mod fashion!
Kitten heels are the discrete and shy side of sexiness. High heels are the bold one. But you know, we all have a mixture of both in us :-)
Unsexy, unfeminine, unpractical, incomfortable.. What’s not to like ? I prefer a woman sporting a real heel and doesn’t risk her life on a toothstick. Take care xx
I kind of like the idea at the moment, but no, I don’t think they’re for me. All the wobbles of walking in heels with none of the height! ;D
I love kitten heels! It’s such an elegant and feminine shoe, just perfect for any business look.
Love them and I think, they can be sexy too!
Not a fan. I had a pair the last time around and hardly ever wore them. They’re just too dainty and lady-like for me, there’s no way to make them look tough or cool the way you can with an actual heel or a flat or a platform… I’ll pass.
http://www.nomadicd.com
I have a few simple phrases:
I wear size 11. DITTO what Garance said! Kitten heels just make my feet appear too long!
I view kitten heels in the same way as light beer – why bother? If you want to wear flats, where flats, and if you want to wear heels at least wear something with a bit of height!
http://www.mode9.fr
I am not a big fan. I have a size 42 (EU) and my foot look enormous in these! On some women they work really well but not for me. I’ll skip this trend.

kitten heel = talon bobine .. ?
I’m not sure either, I’ve owned any, probably because I never saw any that I liked? The ones on the picture are not so bad, because they have a nice heel :)
I personally prefer a mid heel (or even a low mid heel haha). I’m tall and I like to move freely!
I have never liked them, these kind of heels can be easily worn out and they are not comfortable.
I loooove them!
Don’t really like those shoes!
http://fashionbrunette.blogspot.com
merci !
I love kitten heels! They’re so chic and reminde me Roger Vivier’s shoes made for Dior!!
http://whiteindoor.blogspot.com
I like ’em!! xx
http://www.creativityandchocolate.blogspot.com
love love love.
it’s a great look, gives you just a little bit more height without being uncomfortable, and can be very sexy and feminin if worn properly. My feet are rather small, so I have the opposite issue that kitten heels are perfect to solve!
I love kitten heels – they are the perfect « high » heel when you are 6 feet tall (as I am) and want to be able to look people in the face during the day instead of talking to to their hairtop which happens if I wear real high heels!
Je ne suis pas fan du tout..
xx.
Love kitten heels!!
http://www.bonnieclydemarni.com/
I love kitten heels, provided they are not cut so that the toes are cramped! They look equally chic with shorts! And skirts, narrow pants and denim…
Love, love, love them but they have to be very pointy and have sharp heels. Then there is nothing mid-mid about them. I love high heels too, but not total flats as they give no support to my feet & become very uncomfortable. I remember buying vintage (unworn) baby stilettoes from Kensington Market in the early 1980s & I have loved them ever since
love kitten heel…this is not a true kitten….love Manolo Carolyne
Doesn’t matter if you hate them or love them now, I am certain they will make a comeback, and once we start seeing more street-style or editorials with this heel, you can be certain the masses will follow suite.
When I think in kitten heels I think in Audrey, so…. They’re soooooooooo femenine and chic.
I’m with Garance on this one. Feet as long as mine make kitten heels with a low vamp make me look like Olive Oyl!

I don’t mind a kitten wedge. (Can you say that?) I just haven’t been able to get on bored with the kitten heel trend.
I love kitten heels, Of course they are sexy and much comfy than a 6-inch one.
http://thekaloka.com
I’m just like you, on the fence. I’ve found myself strangely attracted to them over the past couple seasons while simultaneously being horrified that I am. I’m haunted by the kitten heel of my teenage years, pointy, white, or pink, sometimes a mule, usually with a completely raw metal heel as it was before anyone had heard of a cobbler much less facilitated one. But I think they’re back…sigh. It all comes back.
I love them as a nice in-between flats and pumps option. With the right outfit, they look perfectly sophisticated and very reminiscent of Breakfast at Tiffany’s glamour.
The only way I’d wear them is with a pencil skirt (below the knee).
Non, non, non! Je ne les aime pas du TOUT!!!!!!!!!!!! Dated, frumpy, fussy, ugly, not cool, not sexy, not edgy, not classic, not adventurous, not chic, not ANYYYYYYYthing. Je les DETESTE!!!!! Yes, I feel strongly about it. Et oui, it’s really true that they make your feet look huuuuuuuge if you have big feet (like me, size 41). It’s also true I bet that some special, clever people CAN make them work, on rare occasions. But I am not a fan – non, non, pas du tout. Bisous! Nomad Thief
ha! I just noticed that even the title of this post is reminiscent of the name of some sort of horror film…. i’m sure it’s not a coincidence….
I like kitten heels. I think too high heels can look like try hard and impractical. Kitten heels depending on the design are as enlongating as higher heels and are comfy. I think if I am wearing dries or some intelligent looking outfits, kitten heels would work great. But all depends on your proportions and style…
Love the kitten heel! You are right, Garance, it depends on the size of your foot. For me, I have small feet which makes it difficult to wear very high heels, but kitten heels are ideal for me because I am short, so I need a heel, but not too much of a heel.
I like the look of kitten heels but find them impractical. If i want t dress something up, I choose heels. When, I’m spending the day on your feet, I go for flats. My kitten heels hardly get any wear.
I love kitten heels.
