Jeans…

I’m only 5’2″ so it’s practically a requirement if the jeans don’t come in different lengths. It’s not expensive or time consuming, so I don’t have much of an excuse not to. It helps me look put together, rather than like a schlub.
yeah, if you’re not super tall, you don’t really have a choice in the matter… :P

No. most of them are short on me anyways since my in-seam measures 88 cm.
Love the photo.

Yes! I’m 5’3 and always have to alter my jeans or pants. the length has to be perfect although for jeans I like folding them depending on the wash because it makes the style look cooler.

YES! It is not outrageously expensive (even to keep the hems on) and it makes such a difference. If only I remembered to get to the tailor once in a blue moon. Oh how I love the just-a-hint-above-the-ankle-length for skinnies. Makes me feel skinny. (Odd, but true).
Tailoring is the best way to personalize clothes AND to make them look great. I rarely purchase an item that doesn’t get some sort of adjustment. Pants hemmed, sleeves taken in, etc. I am lucky, I have a great tailor housed at my cleaner, so I can take care of everything at once.
I’m all for hemming jeans, my problem is that I get crazy indecisive when I’ve got the tailor down there with the pins, and committing to my « perfect length » gives me all kinds of failure anxiety. Tense much? Yeah, I’m working on it…

Definitely to hem! Loving this trend! :)

It depends. My favorite jeans are Acne, and they don’t need to be hemmed because the fabric is so thick. But I have a pair from Levi’s, that I got on sale like 2 years ago for $20, that look super chic and expensive because the hem is so good. The fabric is super thin. So my rule, if the jeans are more on the inexpensive side, and the fabric is thin, then definitely hem. OH and always hem with a heel.
I don’t really wear jeans unless I have to – but I like a hugging fit jean with a hemmed bottom if I wear them!

Ah, no! Don’t promise me tall jeans and then send me to the website to discover they’ve only got a 33-inch inseam! When you find something longer than 35 inches, then we can talk about hemming. :)
I’ve never hemmed a pair of jeans in my life, I’ve unhemmed a pair (didn’t look good at all)! I have a 35″ leg so am always looking for longer lengths where ever I can lay my legs on them.

Hell no. I love raw edges. But I love a hem on somebody else’s jeans. The pair in this shot are AMAZING.
I think it’s the sexiest look when jeans show the ankle and you wear them with a good heel.
How very Victorian of me!

the chic & damned
I’m the anomaly who never hems her jeans. I’m 5’3, and I roll up the rim (to win!) I like that extra detail and I think it works because I only wear skinnies, which is a good shape to do that with. If I ever wear flares again (shudder), I’d hem.
Is the service free? And hmm where is my nearest Uniqlo, if there is one….also, my mother-in-law hems my jeans. Whenever she wants to, however she sees fit, haha….*cries*
Hi Alex! It is free– do it next time you go and let me know what you think! xo Alex
Agree, its all about a hint of the ankle. I wear a lot of menswear so am always tailoring everything – it’s good to find a good seamstress who can alter your clothes. http://www.girlinmenswear.com
Nah, never just keep looking for right length:) your uniqlo addict….Sabina Styleblog Only in Frankfurt
It’s fabulous — I say this from 150 cm, of course. :) Before I discovered my build was, in fact, a US children’s 14, I taught myself how to hem and even to change a cut. I had these hideous « boot-cut » jeans that turned out more like bell-bottoms after the tailor did them, so I took them in and now I have chic cropped skinnies. Best skill ever, if you can pick it up.
i’m 5′ 10, therefore I have never hemmed by jeans or any other kind of pants. however they are often too short and i’ll tug them in my boots or in the summer roll them up a little (sorry, don’t know the right English word).
I don’t really know the feeling, but I love jeans that have the right fit or hem length, alhough that rarely happens for me :(
I’m 5ft 6 and I barely hem my jeans, except when they bother me like these skinny jeans that I finally cut sporadically with my own scissors (don’t judge me, it goes well with the look, devil-may-care jeans). Most of the time I would just roll them when I want to show my ankle, I don’t do something permanent because I might want to wear it longer, who knows? :)
