Si j’avais le choix, je ne porterais pas de chapeaux en ce moment, vu que ça fait partie des trucs que je renie à fond dans le cadre du remaniement de ma garde robe. Oh, et que grace au keratin treatment, ahah, j’aime enfin mes cheveux.

(ça reste des cheveux, hein, quand même, faut bien les detester une ou deux fois pas semaine)
Mais, dans le cadre de ma parano du soleil, il faut bien que je protège ma peaux des rayons nocifs, quand, par exemple, je pars faire du vélo à Central Park…
DONC, il faut que je mette un truc sur ma tête. Une casquette, ou un chapeau. Une casquette, ou un chapeau… Mmmmmm, une casquette, ou un chapeau ?
(Tim dit « METS UN CASQUE!!! », et il a raison. Disons donc plutôt quand je pars me balader à Central Park)
(jai aussi une visière en cuir, qui mérite à elle toute seule un minipost, juste pour que vous m’expliquiez pourquoi tout le monde rigole quand je la porte)
(en attendant, photo chapeau OU casquette)(on est pas obligé de porter sa casquette comme un haut-de-forme comme la follasse sur la photo (moi) – je fais ça quand je me sens guetto) (n’importe quoi) (néanmoins vrai).

Moi je suis les deux, selon mon humeur/accoutrement (le terme est choisi avec soin :s). Mais je sors de chez le dermato et selon lui: casquette ne protège pas tout (à part les yeux) selon l’angle du soleil et le chapeau, il faut au moins 7 cm de bord pour être protégée… Donc, crème solaire et après ce que tu veux sur ta tête…ça aide, je sais ;)

Let me tell you one thing: I absolutely hate caps, and think they are the most unappealing thing that emmerged lately… Terrible, terrible accessorie…

Alors, j’aime les deux.
Et d’un, parce qu’avec mon physique de bourgeoise de droite, je peux me permettre la casquette. Et de deux, parce qu’elle donne un côté sexy bitch que je trouve pas désagréable (ben quoi, MIA et Rihanna sont pas canons avec? Ok, j’aurai jamais le corps… donc je me rabats sur la casquette!)
En revanche, je dis oui à la casquette mais avec un vêtement chic (trench ou manteau, blazer etc!)
Le chapeau, c’est rarement raté, toujours chic, avec un jean roulé aux chevilles, une jupe blanche….
Donc pour résumer, quand je veux m’habiller en coquinette, j’enfile la casquette sur cheveux détachés et je calme la tenue. Quand je veux de l’épuré chic, j’enfile une robe cos et un chapeau!
Les deux! Cela dépend du look finalement… Je porte autant l’un que l’autre, avec une préférence pour la casquette qui a moins tendance à s’envoler avec le premier coup de vent venu! ;-) Et puis on a moins de scrupules à la mouiller si on veut se baigner avec qu’un beau chapeau de paille.
Je me baigne toujours avec des lunettes soleil et chapeau de paille… et je les ruine toujours… aucun conseill?
Mon mari déteste les casquettes… pour moi c’est toujours des chapeaux!

A propos du post d’hier pour les cashmere, Pringle of Scotland, même ceux de ma grand mère n’ont pas de bouloches ! Fais un tour à Edimbourg t’investis à vie !!! J’adore le chapeau de feutre l’hiver mais l’ete je suis une fan des casquettes de baseball. J’aime vraiment le look casquette relax avec une belle tenue, le decalage me plait beaucoup. Aussi, je dois dire que cette photo de toi avec la casquette est de tres loin ma preferee de toi sur le blog!
Personnellement, je suis plutôt « hat » que « cap », mais je dois reconnaître que tu portes les deux super biens ;)

Mais bon le chapeau c’est quand même dur à gérer, je trouve… Surtout la casquette, on en voit partout, ça donne envie et une fois qu’on la porte, on dirait qu’on a rajeunit de 10 ans. Quand on en a 25, c’est pas idéal !

When it is too hot outside, I feel like the sun is eyeing the top of my head and frying my head! I swear I can hear it going, sszzzzzssssszzzz. I guess hats help this but they mostly keep all the warm, humid hotness underneath a pressure cooker. What I am trying to say, is I pick the baseball hat. Fedoras look odd on me… my face is too round and child-like to wear it with a nice seriousness.

Definitely a hat! With a cap you do not protect the sides of your face, your ears & your neck. Both have great style, but for sun protection go with the hat.

Don’t like caps either, unless you are on a tenniscourt or a sailingboat. So, forget about the cap ! The hat is beautiful on you ! For myself and don’t like anything on my head at all, neither in the summer, nor in the winter. And I love to feel the sun when it’s finally there !

Definitivement chapeau ! Tout le monde porte la casquette que je ne trouve pas chic du tout. C’est comme les tatoos, tout le monde en a. Il faut se demarquer, aller a contre-courant.

Oh oh oh, a hat is so much more timeless! Caps have that trend vibe no? I get wanting the ghetto feel, makes you feel like a real wo/man but a gorgeous hat like yours has loads of badass, no proper gangsta should be without one right? I find a cap gives me hat hair because it fits the whole top of the head. Caps are made with lots of room inside so you can take ’em off and still look like a rockstar rather than a medieval with a hair skullcap.
Plus, a cap doesn’t shade your ears, the sides of your face, or the back of your neck, number one sunburn locales!
J’aime le look de la casquette, mais je me dis que quant à me protéger le nez, je devrais aussi me protéger le bout des oreilles et l’arrière du cou, donc chapeau pour moi! Ceci dit, pas que j’aie porté un chapeau en au moins deux ans (tu devrais me voir longer les murs afin d’éviter le soleil), mais j’en ai finalement trouvé un qui me plaît, donc on pourra finalement me trouver au soleil cet été.

Les deux se valent bien… tout dépend de la circonstance. Pour un apéro au White 1921 à Saint Tropez, on privilégiera le panama.
Pour se balader dans paris avec un look néo bourgeoise et désacraliser son Edge Céline et ses 12cm d’escarpins, la casquette peut être considérée comme une arlternative sympa, surtout si elle est en satin et que c’est une ACNE.
Mais globalement, pour lézarder au bord de la piscine en lisant un bon bouquin, les deux se valent bien, avantage à la casquette de supporter l’eau.

Hat. Caps are for men and for going to baseball games. (Full disclosure: I’m American. Baseball caps aren’t exactly seen as the height of fashion here, and still have a distinct association with sports.)

But honestly, I never even knew one could wear a cap and not look like a teenage hip-hop fan. Based on where I live, and I’m not all that much in fashion, I would never have suggested the cap, but seeing it now on you I would even say that both are great.
I even love it when you feel ghetto, because I sometimes do, and I always feel it would be way too silly to express it.

Le problème avec les chapeaux de paille, c’est comment les transporter quand on part en vacances?
J’en ai eu plusieurs, mais à chaque vacances au soleil il est complètement déformé à l’arrivée.. Et 12h dans un avion avec un chapeau sur le crâne… c’est trop fashionista pour moi!
Never ever a cap, never! They are horrible. Ok, maybe if you go jogging, maybe, if its so early an no one sees you. A cap is always a total NO NO!
Hmm.. i think i’ll go for the cap this summer. I think i like the boyish look, and paired with « girly »-er outfit (whatever that means), cap can look super cool on your head!! (especially if you hv great hair, which i don’t).

i think you look fab in both the cap AND the hat and i think you should wear whichever one you feel like on that particular day :) i am all about having a « go-to » or a « uniform » that works, and knowing what looks good on you, but sometimes you just gotta go with how you feel. and props to you for protecting your skin… living in ecuador (hello, on the equator) the sun is SO STRONG that i need to wear a hat nearly ever day, too, to protect my skin AND my colored hair (yes, i am high maintenance right now). personally i really hate hats and wish i didn’t have to wear one daily, but for me i have a go-to hat. but i want to buy a navy blue nike cap when we go back to NYC for a visit this summer. xo

Déjà parce que je trouve que c’est plus beau avec les cheveux bouclés/frisés ; ça ne les écrase pas – je parle d’expérience ! et ensuite tu es canon avec un chapeau !
+ pour ton remaniement de garde robe ça fonctionne aussi : je n’ai plus qu’un chapeau de paille hyper classique acheté chez Monop’ il y a très très longtemps et je le mets dès qu’il y a un rayon de soleil, je serais perdue sans lui !!! Tous mes autres chapeaux ont été éliminés car jamais portés :-)

I love hats but I would say both, depending on the outfit and the mood you are in. Helpful? I guess not really, hmm…There you go, I am very difficult in making decisions. At least that might be helpful, to see that there are others having hard time to decide ;) A gesture of understanding and sympathy :)
Definitely a wide-brimmed hat! As an alabaster skinned, red head, its the only way to properly protect your face and neck from the sun (read less wrinkles and less pigmentation later down the track).

I like both and have quite a hat collection as well. But how does it stay on when you bike? Even the slightest breeze knocks it off my head. Sometimes when I’m walking as well. I guess I have a really small head.

Ohh I’m sorry but I’ve always really disliked the cap.. Let that one go and keep the hat? ;-) (kidding, you should wear what makes you feel good! and it looks better than my mom’s purple-colored fake snakeskin-hat, that one is truly awful. My younger sister has tried destroying/hiding it on several occasions but never succeeded..)

A hat is great if you intend to wear one as part of your overall outfit. A cap is something I keep stashed in my bag all summer long in case I get caught out doors when I wasn’t expecting it. I have pale skin and live in Australia, what isa girl to do?!

A hat like the one you wear on your bike ALWAYS looks so much nicer! And it feels lovely and cool perched on my head – like having your own verandah everywhere you walk.
However, caps are convenient to throw and squash into your bag, then pull out and re-pummel back into shape to go onto your head… however, the way they hug close on my head always feels too hot.
Personally, I keep a super-soft version of your own cheeky and chic hat in my bag – all squashed up. Its brim is just right for protecting my eyes, most of my face and neck where it burns most. I pull it out when needed, which is whenever I am walking in the sun and find it to bright (sometimes) or hot (about the half the middays of highest summer). I don’t wear sunglasses or sunscreen – they are the reason why so many people are Vitamin D deficient, their circadian rhythm is way out, and they are unwell – but I mustn’t get started on that :-)
I don’t mind that my little straw hat becomes beaten up and slightly frayed and misshapen. I wear it until it falls apart, then buy a new one – always cheap, always soft, always lasts me about three to four summers – and costs me twenty dollars from a local chain store, « Sportsgirl ».

I don’t look nice wearing hats (I look weird when I do), and besides, wearing hat during the summer will actually make the heat more unbearable for my head. I use an umbrella to hide from the sun.

Je dirais que ca depend de l’occasion…les casquettes peuvent tenir trop chaud qd la temperature monte (enfin si tu la portes facon ghetto ca evite la transpi sur le front of course!) par exemple pour la plage un petit panama, c’est l’ideal. Mais pour te ballader dans Central Park, la casquette c’est bien, plus urbain. Une bonne excuse pour pouvoir garnir sa garde-robe des 2!!

Hat, unless you are a teenage boy or actually doing sport. Also people often buy hats too small so they perch on the back of the head rather than fitting properly so get hats(there are so many to choose from) that fit & wear them with conviction

sans rire, chapeau, quoi ! La casquette est pire que tout, le fashion-faux-pas numéro 1 (ex-aequo avec les Crocs). tandis qu’un chapeau, ca peut faire classe, détendu, bucolique, élégant, sérieux ou marrant, ambitieux et avenant, voire tout ça à la fois.

Sorry Garance, but I’m with tim…. probably because I spend sometime on the bike and I have to add proper attire to the helmet (ejem, those horrible padded biking pants…) in order of being able to sit …
On the other hand, I’d rather wear hats…. I love them and if it is too hot, the have a cooling effect which is great… I want to buy a proper panama, but the beige one…. that is if spring arrives to northern Spain once and for all …

Mais j’aimerais bien voir ta visière… ce n’est pas pour rigoler, mais j’aime bien ça. Je portais quand je jouais au tennis. Elle pourrait être chouette et protège vraiment la peau contre le soleil.

As Sisi said: with that legs, you can go with whatever you want, but for me hat is hat and so gentle and feminine, and cap is only for baseball match if you go there. :D
There is a decision tree that goe with hat vs cap. How strong is the wind? What’s the angle of the sun? Is it cold or hot wind and sun? Is there any shade? Am I moving or sittimg? Need variety of hats AND caps.
Je ne porte pas grance chose sur mes cheveux en fait… avec ma tignasse, difficile de faire tenir quoique se soit… Mais, parfois, éventuellement, je mets des chapeaux, (je pique ceux de mon père qui en a des canons!). La casquette je n’aime pas du tout (sur moi). Sinon je constate que je ne suis pas la seule à faire du vélo avec des chaussures inapropriées ; )

I normally favour wide brimmed sun hats for maximum sun coverage but just bought a cap from a Danish brand Les Deux and am looking forward to wearing it with casual urban looks this summer.

I’d wear a bucket on my head before I wear a baseball cap. Hat, all the way.
Hat! You want to protect your face and the brim on the hat definitely provides more coverage. I like to use an umbrella. I get stares and comments like « it it isn’t raining! ». But I remain freckle and and sun damage free while they are tan and sun blotched! Choose wisel now and don’t pay with sun damage later. You will not regret it.
