Voici deux ou trois choses qui m’ont marquée cette semaine.
#1 – Un Tapis Rouge Noir et Blanc.
La cérémonie des CFDA se tenait lundi et j’y étais ! Vive le CFDA !
Bien que rien ne sera jamais comme la première fois (en même temps, ce n’est pas tous les jours qu’on reçoit un Eugenia Sheppard Award et qu’on finit bourrée pieds nus sur les tables du Boom Boom Room), c’était très drôle d’aborder le truc avec détachement…
J’étais hyper confort dans une combi à sequins DVF* et j’ai pu observer les célébrités faire la queue pour se faire prendre en photo sur le red carpet, les photographes hurler le nom de certaines, en oublier d’autres, des inconnus essayant de se faire un passage ni vu ni connu sur le red carpet pour connaître leur quart d’heure de célébrité…
Ce petit cirque me laissera toujours perplexe, amusée, désespérée et complètement fascinée à la fois.
#2 – Une Chambre Rated R.
Lors d’un dîner pour soutenir le LGBT (Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender) Community Center, on a été accueillis dans cette pièce entièrement recouverte d’une fresque particulièrement graphique de Keith Haring.
C’est un centre en plein coeur de la ville (pas loin de chez moi!), qui accueille sa communauté depuis les années 70 (autant dire qu’ils ont dû connaître des années sombres)(et il y a encore du boulot à faire !) et où sont célébrés beaucoup de “mariages pour tous” new-yorkais.
Inutile de vous le dire, je les soutiens.
#3 – Des rues merveilleuses.
Mon quartier, Greenwich village, est un vrai bonheur les soirs de printemps.
À la fin d’une longue journée de boulot, j’adore me faire une grande balade dans la douceur des derniers rayons de soleil, m’asseoir sur les marches d’un brownstone et refaire le monde.
#4 – Des shots qui arrachent.
Non, mais littéralement, qui arrachent la gorge.
La semaine de mon retour d’Europe a été rude. J’étais crevée, mais crevée, je n’avais pas fait de gym depuis 3 semaines donc je n’arrivais pas à lever un bras et j’avais un jet lag de malade mental.
Delphine, mon agent et grand manitou (je vous prépare une interview carrière avec elle, n’hésitez pas si vous avez des questions !!!) m’a dit :
“Prends-toi un shot chez Organic Avenue !”
J’ai dit :
“Non, ça va, le juicing, j’ai démissionné.”
Elle m’a dit :
“Mais c’est pas du juicing ce sont des mini shots plein de vitamines. Ça te fera du bien.”
J’ai obéi, et elle avait raison. Ça m’a remis sur pied.
Mon préféré s’appelle Dragon’s Breath, ça arrache la gorge niveau gingembre (peut-être que c’est ce que Keith avait pris avant de peindre la pièce du LGBT center ? ahah) mais j’aime, j’adore.
Cela dit, je ne sais pas si je suis fan du vocabulaire de la drogue appliqué à la nourriture. Je sais que ça existe depuis longtemps (Les shots de vodka, on connait tous. Non ?), mais la dernière fois, je marchais dans la rue et un panneau disait “Get your FIX of protein with our delicious chicken…” ou quelque chose comme ça.
C’est abusé ou c’est moi ? Aaaaah, anyways…
#5 – Un Hangout avec vous.
Comme c’était cool de parler avec vous hier !
Passés nos quelques petits problèmes techniques (on a dû changer trois fois d’ordis !), c’était vraiment un bonheur de pouvoir partager cette conversation avec vous, en toute simplicité.
Vous pouvez la revoir ici sur YouTube, on espère en refaire une prochainement si ça vous dit et on est en train de réfléchir à des moyens de la rendre plus interactive, donc n’hésitez pas si vous avez des idées et des questions.
Encore merci à tous ceux qui ont participé et regardé, rien ne peut me faire plus plaisir que de partager de vrais moments avec vous et j’adore Internet pour ça.
Quand j’ai commencé ce blog, je répondais à chacun des commentaires et si je pouvais, je le ferais encore tout le temps – parce que c’est vraiment la chose la plus importante pour moi, la conversation.
La prochaine fois, j’aimerais bien qu’on parle de blog & de photo (je reçois beaucoup d’emails à ce propos) et la fois d’après, de corps & d’image de soi (beaucoup beaucoup de commentaires à ce propos) et puis de tout ce qui vous intéresse, en fait !
Vous n’avez qu’à me demander. :)

i loved the hangout (and watched both parts!) because it was Garance, but the people asking questions didn’t seem to be long time readers– asking « how did your blog get started, where did you work in your 20s »– when you’ve written about that so much already! and they seemed more interested in getting advice for their own blogs and design careers than actually hearing your thoughts on fashion, body image, art, etc… Like what Sheryl Sandberg says about how at conferences, men ask her questions about business strategy and branding, while women ask for career advice…
anyway so glad you are trying a new medium and so willing to put yourself out there and interact! j’adore! and ditto that it would be so fun to also « hangout » with Alex and Emily since they are writing more on the blog now…

Pour Kavinsky, désolée, mais je crois que tu es un peu en retard, (forcément si le film est sorti en 2011), mais c’est vrai que cette chanson reste particulièrement dans la tête. Et le film, malgré la violence, est super aussi. Le prochain film de ce réalisateur, c’est Only god forgives, j’ai hâte de le voir juste pour la sélection musicale.

Is there a chat feature that can be enabled on Google+ Hangouts? If so, people who are watching could ‘chat’ and write in comments/questions, either during the whole thing or during a designated time when you could answer their questions.
I loved the Hangout and really looking forward to the new one! My favorite topic is career but I’ll be watching curiously all of them!

Naturally I cannot identify with everything you are writing about today, however, it begs to be mentioned that 1. I’m on the prowl for the perfect tennis bracelet, 2. I cannot stand drug talk even when talking about smoking, or coffee; I have to check myself when I almost say I’m « jonesing » for something and 3. I’ve been listening to Jean François Maurice and Miranda Martino (thank you Youtube!) all day today. I have not reached the lows of Sasha Distel just yet but the day is young.. As the world of blogging becomes more competitive and professional, what is the role of an agent? I know of agencies such as Digital Brand Architects and others but that style of business seems to be reserved for bloggers with very large followings and notoriety. How does it work (pros, cons, etc) and at what point should a growing blogger consider working with one?
Ok, that’s it… I’m really curious how this whole agent thing works for bloggers!

Hahaha Kavinsky ; ma ville étudiante (Nancy) a organisé un concert gratuit de Kavinsky le mois dernier, sur la place Stan, genre à 2 min de chez moi ; et j’étais en train de mourir à réviser pour mes partiels ! Tu peux me croire; je l’ai détesté, avec sa musique qui m’a empêché de bosser. En plus j’aurai bien été voir son concert, mais je culpabilisais trop.

About the hangout! I know a few youtubers who do a similar sort of hangout thing. They get a steady feed of questions via their Twitter feed and just answer all the questions (they have the feed with them on their Ipad) that way instead of only being able to address the questions of a handful of people. That might be an option.
