To Pearl or not to Pearl
10 years ago by
i would love some irregular pearl set in a creative way: i’ve seen some amazing pieces of jewelry in one of the pitti museum! :)

LOVE …..simple and classic….xoxo
LOVE IT! Pearls are so chic and timeless. However, it’s hard to wear them without looking like a lady with her fur coat from ‘le 16ème’ in Paris. This necklace is the perfect example of a modern approach to the classic pearl necklace. I totally agree with you. It would be so sensual with a silk top, a tight jean and a pair of white converse. At the moment, I’m really into precious and delicate earrings. This Christmas, my family surprised me by giving me a pair of vintage diamond earrings that belonged to my great grandmother. They’re so special to me. My 13 years old cousin inherited pearl earrings and she wears them with ease. They’re charming and youthful on her.

Perfect! I had my grandmothers diamond from her engagement ring made into a bezel set solitaire and had it put on a 30 inch chain. Love it and it llooks great with jeans sweater.

As someone who is fanatic about jewelry, it has been my lifelong curse that my birthstone is pearl. I know that one day I will love them and wear them, but when you’re younger, they just seem like what your grandmother would wear.
However, I do have access to my grandmother’s pearl choker that my mother inherited, and I do actually love wearing this with just a basic t-shirt. I love the mix of casual and classic.
This necklace is definitely a good happy medium. :)

Oui, elles sont magnifique!
Agreed, this design is subtle and elegant. I have a cherry Tahitian pearl strung on an extremely fine gold chain that has a similar effect, I think (and would shine in the same kinds of ensembles). http://www.theseventhsphinx.com/fashion/features/the-cherry-tahitian/
Really high quality, large pearls can be quite expensive (also heavy), and a single showcased pearl is a great way to add that luster and luxe while keeping an element of delicacy. Always so glad to see mainstream designers incorporating pearls into their designs.
I just can’t get into pearls. Although I consider myself feminine, they just seem prissy to me.
dainty & classic…exactly what the perfect piece of jewelry should be
I adore pearls! For years my Grandma Kay has given me pearls in some form for Christmas and they’re always just so perfect.

Yes always! I love my pearl earring and I wear them everywhere.

What a wonderfully simple yet chic necklace. There is a certain « old-lady-Mrs-Brady » connotation with the pearl necklace it’s true. I find the less pearls there better. Bisous

Look great, I love it, elegant
Non mais OF COURSE la perle ! Mes copines trouvent que je fais bourgeoise catho avec mes perles aux oreilles, mais moi je trouve qu’associées à mes baskets et mon sweat Isabel Marant, c’est chic et choc.

I like pearls but they can be very ageing if worn with the wrong clothes xx
After 40 years no more pearls , strange but they really make me feel like my granny ! Bisou Garance
To pearl…
classic & modern in the same time.

Bien sûr. La perle est tellement belle.
Mais bien sur out! J’adore meme le grandes perles gigante de Chanel!
Happy to see my birth stone celebrated. It sometimes gets a bad rap!
I really love that necklace. With a simple T-Shirt, boyfriend jeans, Perfecto jacket and simple heels it will look perfect. Classic pearls, like one strand necklaces or small pearl studs, usually have a very old fashioned appeal. However, since a few seasons I really think that there is a lot going on in pearl jewelry. Really trendy pieces like double pearl earrings, collaborations like Marie-Hélène de Taillac x Tasaki etc.. are available these days. http://www.stylecloseup.net/2014/02/08/pearl-jewelry-gets-facelift-season/
This piece is divine!
The price is rather out of this world too, though.. Fingers crossed for a more affordable high street version.
If you’d like contemporary pearl jewelry, I bought this bracelet recently and I can’t get enough of it – classic with punk twist http://www.antipearle.cz/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=76&category_id=4&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=13&lang=en
